Letters From Iwo Jima (2006) is a film set on the island of Iwo Jima in late 1944. The film recreates the battle between Japanese soldiers and American allies before the American attack.

When released, Letters from Iwo Jima received high appreciation from the American and Japanese people. The film is considered a masterpiece by director Clint Eastwood and was nominated for the 2007 Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director.
