The Rescuers (1977)
The Rescuers (1977) is an animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation, directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, and based on the novel by Margery Sharp.
It is the 23rd animated feature film in the Disney canon and follows the daring missions of two mice, Bernard (voiced by Bob Newhart) and Miss Bianca (voiced by Eva Gabor), who work as agents for the Rescue Aid Society, an international organization dedicated to helping those in need.
The filmβs story begins when a young orphan girl named Penny (voiced by Michelle Stacy) is kidnapped by the villainous Madame Medusa (voiced by Geraldine Page), a greedy and unscrupulous woman who plans to force Penny to retrieve a priceless diamond from a dangerous swamp. When the Rescue Aid Society learns of Pennyβs plight, Bernard and Miss Bianca are assigned to rescue her.
The two mice set off on an adventure to save Penny, navigating the dangerous world of humans and animals, facing various challenges, and using their small size to outsmart the villainous Medusa.
