Lone Survivor (2013) is a gripping war drama directed by Peter Berg and based on the true story of Operation Red Wings, a failed mission by Navy SEALs in Afghanistan in 2005. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of the mission, and is adapted from Luttrell’s memoir of the same name.

The story follows a four-man SEAL reconnaissance team, which includes Luttrell (Wahlberg), Michael Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch), and Matt Axelson (Ben Foster). Their mission is to capture or kill a notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shah. However, their operation goes awry when they encounter goat herders in the mountains and are forced to decide whether to kill them or let them go. Opting to release them, the SEALs soon find themselves surrounded and outnumbered by Taliban fighters.
