The Relic (1997)

The Relic (1997) is a science fiction horror film directed by Peter Hyams, based on the 1995 novel by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. The story takes place at Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History, where a mysterious, ancient relic is transported from South America. Dr. Margo Green (Penelope Ann Miller), a biologist working at the museum, teams up with homicide detective Lt. Vincent D’Agosta (Tom Sizemore) after a series of brutal murders occurred in the museum.

As they investigate, they discover a horrifying truth – the ruins have released a monstrous creature, a mutant created through a combination of ancient tribal rituals and evolutionary forces. . The creature is on a killing spree, targeting museum staff and visitors, as the protagonists race against time to stop it before a famous gala at the museum puts more people in danger. .
